Rodrigo Leão spent his Covid-19 lockdown in the beautiful Portuguese region of Alentejo and let himself be dazzled by the nature surrounding him. From this experience was born a new and unexpected album of original material, »A Estranha Beleza da Vida«, made in a relaxed fashion over the past few months.

Coming up this summer on Modern Recordings, we’ll release Graham Hastings’ soundtrack for »The Bike Thief« a gritty British drama-thriller starring Alec Secareanu and Anamaria Marinca – written and directed by Matt Chambers.

With his signature sound that brings together poignant trumpet and dynamic electronic soundscapes, Nils Petter Molvær has achieved heavyweight status for showing a path forward for the genre in a new age, a path which, faithful to jazz’ past, remains cool all the way. His upcoming release, Stitches, is no different. Unafraid to explore new sounds and emotions, Molvær once again shows us that not only jazz has a future, but one that is both bright and exciting.
